PARALLEL LOOK

The Maldita Vanidad Teatro Foundation proposes this biennial event that seeks to create an artistic and academic program focused on highlighting the exercise of theater directing in Colombia. Taking as a reference for each edition a universal theatrical creator who serves as the subject of study for the selected directors.

Each director must write and direct a theatrical piece, for this the foundation offers them an economic amount to produce and a season in the house of the Damned Vanity. In addition, between each season there are meetings of dramatized readings and conference cycles where the directors talk about their experience in this creation laboratory.

EDITION 2021

This fourth edition seeks to create a tribute to the life and work of the British author Agatha Christie, being one of the most widely read universal authors in the world and highlighting her artistic career in the areas of playwriting, novels, short stories and cinema.

For this edition we have selected a team of outstanding Colombian directors in different stage genres, they are:

Catalina del Castillo, Jimmy Rangel, Juanita Delgado, Felipe Ortiz and Moisés Ballesteros.

From July to October, the creations of these directors will be premiered at the Casa de la Maldita Vanidad where each work will have two weeks of in-person season.

The 2021 edition of the Mirada Paralela project is possible thanks to the Program of concerted support of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the program of concerted rooms of the Ministry of Culture.
